There’s no doubt that this trip to China has been tough on my 44-year-old body and it all came to a head last night.
I got the chills right before bedtime and was shaking pretty good when I finally retired for the night.
This morning I felt good enough to go eat some breakfast but then I came back to the room and laid down on the couch. Carmi, Tema and the two girls went on a tour to the Chen Family Temple at 9:30 but I felt it best to stay in the room and rest. Right before they came back at 11:45, I got the chills again and moved to our bed where I piled on the covers.
Our agency families were having lunch together at 12:00 but I simply didn’t feel like I could go. I stayed in the bed and slept. Carmi brought me some lunch from the restaurant at 1:30 and I practically devoured it.
At 2:00, our agency families had the famous red couch photo session where I mustered the best smile I could before heading off to the American Consulate.
Doug I am so sorry you are not feeling well! I will be praying for you and your family to be well by tomorrow! Get some good sleep.
Love all the happy families!

OK Doug - Grannie Hall to the rescue.
First line of defense: all of you join hands and pray for healing. I’ll ask our prayer partners here at home to be praying for a speedy recovery.
Second defense line: Go get some garlic cloves and rub them on the bottom of your feet. 30 min. later it can be detected in your bloodstream and will be fighting those bugs. (So who’s gonna smell ya feet already?)
By-the-way the red couch photo is beautiful.
Like I said - we prayed you there and we’ll pray you home ... we’ll just have to be more specific for your improved health. Sure hope that a partial day of rest helped you feel better and that the remainder of the day was an improvement. We love each of you and can’t wait for you to get home. See y’all SOON!!!
Praying you are feeling better… what a beautiful photo of smiling families!
Doug -
Kerry sent out an prayer APB this morning for you to feel better as well as for strength for the upcoming trip for all of you. I am lifting you up for strength and peace and an uneventful trip home.
HURRY UP ALREADY!! Kerry is ready to see you guys!!
Sending a prayer for you to feel better. Being sick away from home is awful.
Wonderful picture of lots of happy families! Although the first time I read the title, I read it as “Red Couch Potato” I couldn’t figure out how that fit. Then I reread! LOL
