Back in the 1920’s, Ernest Hemingway supposedly made a bet with several writers around a lunch table that he could pen a complete story in only six words. He quickly wrote six words on a napkin which he promptly passed around. He won the bet with the following narrative:
“For sale. Baby Shoes. Never worn.”
I challenged myself to write a story about my life in only six words. Here’s my mini-memoir:
Carmi. Three children. On cloud nine.
What’s your life story in six words?
Cant do it. If I, like you, pointed to family:
Lori. Six Children. Waiting for Seventh.
It, like Hemingway’s, omits the majority of who, how or why. You then have to assume these six:
By his stripes we are healed.
Saved by Jesus. Blessed by daughters!
Jesus Paige Carmi Tema Mark Reba
This is my life these days:
God. Chris. Me. Waiting on China.
OK:
Kids. Dogs. Having an adventure!
