1. Pollen, how I hate thee… let me count the ways.

4. You know summer is approaching when Eliana starts getting grass stains on her pants.

5. We need to buy stock in a stain remover company.

6. I find it hard to complete one task at home before moving on to another.

8. Did you hear about the budget airline that wants to charge passengers to use the toilet?

9. The great debate has been settled… my booty is bigger than Carmi’s.

1. Food Lion has Breyers ice cream on sale - 4 for $10. We’re $10 poorer.

2. What will Zane will do this summer when his Mac laptop goes bye-bye?

3. I recently learned that an old friend who was once very passionate for the Lord is now living in the world. That makes me so sad.

4. I recently learned that several friends who once lived in the world are now very passionate for the Lord. That makes me so happy.

5. Seems we went straight from winter to summer. What happened to spring?

6. Sometime today, Karys wrapped a rubber band tightly around one of her big toes. By the time she showed Carmi, the toe was a beautiful shade of light blue.

7. Are you as tired as I am of hearing about Tiger Woods?

8. And what about Kate Gosselin? Have you seen her on Dancing with the Stars?

9. Eliana’s latest fashion accessory is a yellow cloth Sponge Bob wrist band.

10. Candy is scattered all over this house and the kids still want candy when we go to the grocery store.

A collection of random thoughts 2.9.10

1. I told Eliana this morning that Stacy and Clinton from TLC’s What Not to Wear were going to pay her a visit.

2. I used to fuss at Eliana for being slow. Now she has company. Zane primped in front of the mirror for a good 10 minutes after I already told him twice to hurry up because we needed to leave for school.

3. Blue is not one of my favorite colors but it describes me perfectly right now.

4. A man was rescued after 4 weeks buried in the Haiti rubble. How amazing is that?

5. I’m sure the girls in Eliana’s 2nd grade class will appreciate their Bakugan Valentine’s Day cards.

6. Zane really, really, r-e-a-l-l-y likes the rotisserie chicken from Wal-Mart. Either that or he was just really, really, r-e-a-l-l-y hungry.

7. There was not a styrofoam coffee cup anywhere in our plant this morning. I almost had a panic attack.

8. I haven’t seen even one of the cool Super Bowl commercials yet.

9. Is it just me or are a majority of the people in the “people you may know” feature on Facebook people that I do know but I deliberately choose not to be friends with?

A collection of random thoughts 2.3.10

1. As a child, I prayed for snow days to come. As an adult, I pray for snow days to go away. Our routine gets all out of whack when school is cancelled or even delayed.

2. I really don’t like having to take a half-day vacation before lunch and then going to work in the afternoon. See #1.

3. Speaking of prayer, I registered the ‘streamingprayer.com’ domain name in conjunction with this post.

4. Lately, Karys has been making a HUGE issue out of going to the potty. As in whining and complaining and arguing when we tell her to go. She wants to do everything else by herself so why the big deal all of a sudden?

5. Since Karys turned 5 on Monday, she now thinks her preschool class is a “baby” class.

6. Am I the only person on the planet who has never been inside an Ikea store?

7. Has anyone seen my other bedroom slipper? It’s been MIA since the weekend.

8. I watched last night’s 2-hour season premiere of LOST this morning. Thank you, ABC, for streaming my favorite television show on your website.

9. My favorite character on my favorite television show is Hurley.

10. My favorite line from my favorite character occurred when Jacob and Hurley were conversing by the van about what to do with Sayid.  Hurley warned Jacob that Jin was on his way, but Jacob seemed unconcerned. “Jin won’t be able to see me.” “Why not?” “Because I died an hour ago.” “Sorry, dude. That sucks.”

A collection of random thoughts 1.29.10

1. In preparation for a haircut this morning, I fixed my hair like I used to wear it in the 80s which is very different from the way I wear it now. At breakfast with the 3 kiddos, Karys said, “Dad, why is your hair like that? It looks awful.”

2. In preparation for the big snow that was forecast for today, I went to Target to pick up some grocery items. I think half the town was there. Glad I wasn’t at Wal-Mart.

3. Yes… I bought milk. But we really did need some.

4. It snowed!

5. I told Zane he was going to get a snowball down his pants tomorrow.

6. I registered the ‘missionsuniversity.com’ domain name in conjunction with yesterday’s post.

7. Karys just wasn’t her normal self today. She started complaining with a sore throat yesterday. At dinner, she had a temperature of almost 103.

8. Eliana started complaining with a sore throat at bed time.

9. I can’t get a sore throat. Joyful Hearts has a concert Sunday night.

10. I’m more exhausted after a day at home than I am a day at work.

A collection of random thoughts 1.25.10

1. The kitchen trash can smells like something crawled into it and died.

2. Eliana and Karys brushing their teeth at the same sink at the same time is about as successful as mixing oil and water.

3. Karys said she didn’t want her Wiggles DVDs anymore. I just don’t know that I can part with those.

4. If burping at the table after a meal is any indication that you enjoy the food, Eliana r-e-e-e-a-a-a-l-l-y enjoys the food!

5. Another One Bites the Dust by Queen was playing as the soundtrack to an old cartoon Eliana was watching. On the Disney channel. I sang along and Eliana was like, “You know that song?? How do you know that song??”

6. Zane asks “why?” 99.9% of the time when we tell him to do something. He’s as bad as a 4-year-old and I’m about ready to scream.

7. Karys went to preschool today but Eliana and Zane were home because of a teacher workday. Actually they stayed at my mom’s house this morning. But tomorrow is another teacher workday and they’ll ALL be home. All day. Poor Nancy-Coe.

8. It’s been one month since Christmas?

9. You mean there were football games yesterday?

10. I’ve been in touch with an adoptive family that we haven’t seen in… oh… probably 3 years. And that makes me very happy. Not because we haven’t seen them in 3 years but because we’re finally back in touch.

A collection of random thoughts 1.21.10

1. I felt a little wistful this morning after seeing the advertisement for a James Taylor/Carole King “Troubadour Reunion” tour. I’m not crazy about James Taylor. I just wish I could do what he does. And that I started doing it many years ago.

2. I felt a little wistful too about China after seeing our friends with their new sons and daughters.

3. My mother-in-law said that our oldest cat, Tommi, puked 7 times. Before lunch.

4. During a road trip for work this morning, I listened to talk radio. Does that mean I’m old?

5. I stopped at Starbucks on the way back to the office.

6. My only other real tv obsession besides LOST is Beverly Hills 90210. Loved it back in the day. Want the DVDs.

7. The kids and I made a quick trip to Kentucky Fried Chicken after work. Zane ate 3 big ol’ pieces of chicken and still managed to save some for the rest of us.

8. I took the kids with me to church for trio practice until Carmi could stop by and pick them up on her way home from work. All 3 were on the front row - Zane was laying down and resting, Eliana was playing with a Nintendo DS and Karys was sitting and listening to us sing with a huge smile on her face. After one song, she gave me a thumbs up and said, “Dad, you sounded great. Good job.”

9. I a-l-m-o-s-t feel sorry for any Democrat that appears on FOX’s Hannity Show.

10. I love to sniff my kids after they’ve had a bath.
